Dynamic Memory Techniques
Memory
Can we imagine what would happen if we lose our memory at a sudden?. Stop and think about this for 1 minute. During the second world war many warriors and soldiers had lost their memory through shell shock. People who were downing and were saved, relate that in a second their whole life flashed on their minds in vivid detail. This actually shows us how well the terminology "MEMORY" stores up impressions and how important this is for us to sustain our life... We all have studied in our junior standard that human's basic needs are FOOD, CLOTH AND SHELTER but i wanna add... MEMORY without which we can live but as a living dead....
Our brain is like huge huge library, containing millions of books but no catalogue, i mean no systematic arrangement of books or information. And if we have to find a book of our choice from such library, what could be the possible way? Yes, there is one and only one way to find a book from a library without a catalogue or indexing i.e., to go from book to book to see whether the particular book is there or not which not only consumes time but can even drain much energy. In this process you may be able to find the book or you may even return with vacant hand. In case you fail to find it, you will say that the particular book is not there in the library but the actual fact is you are just not being able to locate the book. Similar is the case with out brain. Everything which we have seen, heard, felt, experienced is being secured permanently in one or other part of the brain. But sometimes we are unable to recall or find the exact location of data or thought which we were searching and this particular process is called "FORGETTING"
For an instance, today you get introduced with someone say, Mr. James and after a lapse of time you again meet him in the market. its quite possible that you are unable to recall his name and you simply say , Sorry gentleman i know you somehow but have forgotten your good name. At that instance, if that person gives you 4 options, that his name may be, John, Jack, James or Jerry, you will instantly recall his name and say,'Yah, you are James.
This example express that you haven't forgotten his name but the only problem was you were unable to trace his name in your memory. It happen, because we dont have any mental indexing system or catalogue to refer to...
Whenever we have to recall something, we have to remember something, we just start searching randomly in the brain's library and the moment, we are unable to find it, we assume that we have forgotten that particular thing. So, friends this means we need a mental catalogue for the ready reference, to make our recalling and remembering efficient and effective. ...
